If you are reading this you are the lucky recipient of some mulled cider (we use Hall’s as a base but PC unsweetened is a very comparable.)

'Round Midnight

This lovely mixture is fantastic warm and can be enjoyed with the following special goodies. This is one of the few cocktails that comes back on our menu every festive season and is a fantastic crowd pleaser at holiday gatherings.

Ingredients

Ingredients

  • ¾ oz rye (any dark spirit can work)
  • ¾ oz sweet red vermouth (we use Dolin which has a distinct oregano nose)
  • 3 dashes angostura bitter (you can experiment using alternate bitters but ango has decidedly seasonal notes)
  • 4-6 oz of mulled cider

Mulled Cider

  • 4 L unsweetened cider (stuff is very sweet already but you do you)
  • 1 cinnamon stick crushed or broken (you can use ground, but the grits stay in the drink)
  • 2 star anise
  • 1 tbl spoon vanilla extract
  • Half a nutmeg grated

Equipment

  • Medium pot
  • Strainer
  • Mixing spoon
  • Yer gullet

Instructions

1. Brink all ingredients to a boil. Remove immediately and let sit for 5.

2. Fine strain (we have conical fine mesh strainers but a coffee filter in a funnel will do).

3. Let cool and refrigerate up to 2 weeks.

Baby, It's cold outside.

How to make:

1. If its with booze, just add the booze and bitters to your favourite mug or double hulled vessel (the clear double hulled glasses are really fun as you can see the liquid).

2. Then add the hot cider. Add a quarter teaspoon of butter (we brown our butter and cool it but reg unsalted is fine).

3. Finally, grab an orange peel and express it (squeeze to release the oils over the mug) and drop in.
